So we had some time to do a quick shoot to test out the Eclipse yesterday with Model Diamond who happened to be going to the Baltimore/DC Caribbean Carnival this weekend here in Baltimore.
Let me say I can see the potential with this light shaping tool.
In this shot I used one of the smallest gobo's in the kit. When you are pushing light through a 50mm Eclipse lens, then through a small gobo and a blue gel I wanted to see how much light I would loose using my Buff White Lightning 1600
I shot this image of Diamond at ISO 400 f5.6 at 1/30th sec. using a three light setup.
After looking at the images there are so many things I would differently, like I like things in focus too much at times. Why didn't I blur the gobo (because there is a focus knob) so its not so distracting, the focus was the model and wardrobe in my vision, the background should just add to the composition right?
Next time as they say, so for now create, learn, adjust, and grow.
Please note:
If you ever want to use it at your next studio rental, ask the assistant so you can check it out and get trained on how to use it properly.
Jeff
Tried a gobo just to change the background with Model Kali.
